Momen is the London-based duo of Iván Muela (piano/guitar/electronics) and Nat Philipps (saxophone/electronics), who create a vivid, shapeshifting world of jazz-influenced experimentation and textured ambience on their début LP, Sympathetic Resonance. Its eight tracks balance poise and catharsis, alternating between passages of compelling friction and euphoric grace that frequently blend into one another with natural ease. Each began as an extensive improvisation, brought to final form through meticulous editing, arrangement, and treatment, creating a deceptively complex musical conversation that remains in the air well after the final fade.
